A Senior Accountant/Controller in the restaurant industry oversees all financial operations of the restaurant group. This includes AP and AR, payroll, month-end closing, while driving profitability through inventory analysis, food and labor cost control, and budget variance reporting. This individual ensures GAAP compliance, manages cash flow, and leverages software like Restaurant
365 to provide financial insight to ownership.
- Financial Reporting & Control: Manage the general ledger accounting system. Prepare period and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements.
- Period-End Close: Oversee the period-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries.
- Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts, bank statements, banquet events, intercompany accounts, and credit card procurement transactions.
- Operational Accounting: Oversee daily sales reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll processing.
- Cash Management: Perform daily bank activity. Prepare weekly cash reports for management. Ensure timely loan payments. Fund bank accounts as needed.
- Cost Management: Monitor food, beverage, and labor costs, implementing strategies for inventory control and waste reduction.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and analyzing financial variances.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with GAAP. Assist with the annual insurance audit. Assist external accountants with tax return preparation and reviewed financial statements. Renew annual liquor licenses and local licenses. File sales tax, liquor tax and local business tax returns. File annual vendor Form 1099 forms.
- Team Management: Supervise accounting staff of four team members, including two staff accountants, one payroll manager, and one accounts payable manager. The goal is to foster a collaborative and proactive work environment.
- Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems and procedures.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of restaurant accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Restaurant
365 accounting software and Excel. - Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Experience with multi-unit restaurant operations.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
