St. David’s Episcopal Day School (SDEDS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Teacher to join our early childhood education team for the 2026–2027 school year. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for young learners.
This role is ideal for an educator who values collaboration, consistency, and strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues—and who is committed to ongoing professional growth.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood best practices
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment
- Lead daily classroom activities, routines, and transitions
- Supervise and collaborate with assistant teachers
- Conduct ongoing student observations and communicate progress with families
- Maintain classroom organization, materials, and documentation
- Partner with school leadership on curriculum alignment and classroom needs
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification – must have PA teacher certification or private academic certification
- Prior lead teaching experience in a preschool or early childhood setting
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Compensation & Schedule- Annual Salary: starting at $40,000
- Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Follows school-year calendar (late August through end of May), including school holidays and breaks
- Additional opportunities to work Before or After Care may be available.
