Description
The Academic Coach and Assistant Coordinator for Tutoring, reporting to the Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs in the Academic Resource Center (ARC), oversees Eastern's peer tutoring program, provides academic coaching to students Flex Undergraduate students enrolled in the Parent Pathways program, and assists with other academic support services with an emphasis on students in the Act 101, EQUIP. This position is hybrid and will require some evening hours.

Position Responsibilities:
Ongoing recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of peer tutors for the undergraduate peer tutoring program during the academic yearImplementation and ongoing monitoring of WCOnline for peer tutoring appointments between tutors and traditional undergraduate studentsArranges tutoring for summer Fast Pass and other online summer courses. Is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of peer tutors, and for pairing of tutors with studentsServes as a member of the EQUIP and Act
101 staff teams, helping with training, program development, and student supportProvides professional recommendations regarding appropriate reading and study skill accommodations and modifications of course materials and resources for students who learn differentlyPresents Warner Library and ACT 101 Workshops on various reading and study skill topicsOversees and monitors the use of Net Tutor for undergraduate, graduate, and flex studentsCompletes monthly invoice procurements for Net TutorAcademic Coach
Position Responsibilities:
Provides online academic coaching to students who enroll for services with study skills, time/self-management, test-taking, reading strategies, etc.As requested, develops and presents online workshops focused on study skills, time management, "negotiating the system" (e.g., registration, financial aid), etc.Maintains case documentation and prepares weekly records of contacts and other summary reports as requested.Assists students with navigating University systems such as financial aid and registration.Assists academically under-prepared or underperforming students in creating and following programs for improvement.Maintains competencies with web-based training and attendance at seminars.Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs.Other Responsibilities:
Attends ARC staff meetings as requestedAttends professional development activities relating to peer tutoring, testing, and the Act 101 program upon requestRemains knowledgeable about best practices in the field and implements changes to facilities and procedures when necessary to meet best practice standardsPrepares weekly, monthly, and annual reports as requestedEmbodies values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence and affirmationSeeks to treat each member of the campus community with fairness, dignity, and respect, seeking a spirit of unity and harmony as we join together to achieve our common missionStatus:
Full-time, staff, salaried, exempt, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in education or related field is required.
- Experience in higher education, teaching experience, and direct tutoring experience are preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.…
