The Role at a Glance

The Alternative Investments Analyst is a member of the investment team responsible for the research, due diligence, and ongoing evaluation of Lincoln's alternative investment portfolio, including private equity buyout, growth equity, real assets, hedge funds, and other non-traditional strategies. This individual supports investment sourcing, underwriting, manager selection, and portfolio construction, and contributes directly to investment recommendations presented to senior leadership and investment committees.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and quantitative skills with sound investment judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.

What you'll be doing

* Conduct investment due diligence on new and existing alternative investment opportunities across private equity buyout, growth equity, real assets, and hedge funds, including evaluation of strategy, track record, team, terms, and risk profile.

* Perform manager and fund research, including quantitative performance analysis, peer benchmarking, and qualitative assessment of investment process and competitive positioning.

* Support portfolio construction and asset-allocation analysis, evaluating how prospective commitments affect diversification, liquidity, risk, and expected return at the total-portfolio level.

* Monitor existing investments on an ongoing basis; analyze performance, attribution, and exposures, and communicate identified risks and financial implications to management.

* Prepare investment memos, presentations, and recommendations for portfolio managers and investment committees.

* Conduct market, sector, and macroeconomic research to identify themes, relative-value opportunities, and emerging risks across alternative asset classes.

* Track capital deployment, pacing, and commitment levels against strategic targets, and provide analysis to inform investment pacing decisions.

* Partner with portfolio managers, risk, finance, legal, and external managers and advisors throughout the investment lifecycle.

* Contribute to ad-hoc analysis and special projects that advance the broader alternative investments strategy.

* Participate in strategic investments and special projects that achieve financial hurdles but also contribute to strategic company value

* Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear investment recommendations.

* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; comfort working with large data sets.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author investment memos and present to senior stakeholders.
