Completes advanced research to support the activities of more Senior Analysts and Portfolio Managers.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Initiate, research, and recommend new investment ideas
* Understand trends in financial markets and impact on current and future investments.
* Analyze portfolio risks, exposures, and performance drivers.
* Participate in development of less experienced personnel.
* Work with client-facing colleagues to strengthen client relationships and gain new ones.
* Prepare documentation to communicate portfolio performance, investment options, risks, and pending decisions.
* Participate in regular meetings and calls to discuss organizational developments, investment strategy, performance and risk.
* Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
* Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
* Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
* Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience
Strong understanding of capital markets
Current knowledge of the state of the investment management industry
Proficient with common industry tools
Education and Experience Preferred:
Advanced degree
Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience
CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or progressing toward obtaining CFA designation
Highly analytical
Research-driven skill set
Motivated self-starter comfortable working with senior management
