Overview
The Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Team is seeking a highly skilled Service Now Platform Engineer to strengthen and evolve CMDB capabilities across an expanding Service Now ecosystem. The CMDB team is responsible for delivering a single source of truth for IT assets and services across the enterprise, supporting governance, discovery, integrations, and innovation. This role is designed for an experienced engineer who excels in complex platform environments, enjoys solving challenging technical problems, and wants to play a key role in enabling advanced Service Now modules, AI-driven features, and future platform capabilities.
As demand for the Service Now platform continues to grow, this position provides dedicated engineering capacity to reduce bottlenecks, accelerate delivery, and ensure CMDB-dependent processes remain performant, scalable, and secure. Impact & Growth:
This is a high-impact, senior technical role with clear influence over how the Service Now platform and CMDB evolve across the enterprise. The role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, governance, and innovation, helping ensure the platform is prepared for future growth, including AI, automation, and advanced analytics capabilities.
- Design, engineer, configure, and support CMDB functionality within an increasingly complex Service Now platform landscape.
- Build CMDB solutions aligned with Service Now best practices, performance standards, and long-term platform roadmaps.
- Support the implementation, optimization, and adoption of advanced Service Now capabilities, including Now Assist and AI-driven features.
- Ensure CMDB-related services remain stable, secure, resilient, and scalable as adoption and dependency continue to grow.
- Provide dedicated engineering coverage where broader Service Now platform teams are capacity constrained.
- Accelerate delivery by reducing cycle time for enhancements, fixes, upgrades, and client requests impacting CMDB-dependent workflows.
- Identify and reduce technical debt to improve maintainability, reliability, and future extensibility of the platform.
- Support ongoing operational excellence for CMDB-related services.
- Partner closely with CMDB governance, operations, platform, and client teams to translate requirements into durable, enterprise-grade technical implementations.
- Act as a trusted engineering advisor for CMDB-related design decisions, trade-offs, and roadmap planning.
- Enable safe and scalable adoption of new Service Now capabilities across the organization.
- Accelerates delivery of Service Now and CMDB capabilities.
- Eliminates platform bottlenecks and reduces accumulated technical debt.
- Improves platform reliability, scalability, and overall client experience.
- Enables secure and scalable adoption of AI-powered Service Now features.
- Minimum of five years related work experience. Three years of service assets and configuration management experience.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
- Deep, hands-on experience engineering solutions on the Service Now platform, with strong CMDB expertise.
- Proven ability to design and support scalable, enterprise-grade platform solutions.
- Experience supporting Service Now implementations, upgrades, and new feature adoption.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to partner effectively with governance, product, and operational teams.
- Comfort working in environments with high platform demand and competing priorities.
- Experience with AI-driven features, automation, integrations, or performance optimization within Service Now.
- Background supporting CMDB-related initiatives such as discovery, data quality, and platform scalability.
