The Role at a Glance
As a Business Analyst, you will support the Intake and Planning team within the Workplace Solutions Data Analytics & Reporting organization. In this role, you will partner with business stakeholders to analyze incoming requests, support discovery efforts, and translate business needs into well-defined requirements that inform future data and reporting initiatives.
This position plays a key role in supporting the Retirement Plan Services business, helping ensure that new requests are clearly defined, technically feasible, and aligned to strategic priorities. You will leverage strong analytical thinking, SQL expertise, and business acumen to support intake, planning, and solution development activities.
What you'll be doing
* Support intake and discovery efforts by analyzing incoming requests, gathering requirements, and helping define business problems and desired outcomes.
* Partner with stakeholders across Retirement Plan Services to clarify business needs, data requirements, and success criteria.
* Translate business needs into structured requirements, process flows, and documentation to support prioritization and downstream delivery.
* Perform data analysis using SQL to validate requirements, identify trends, and support decision-making.
* Assist in evaluating requests for feasibility, dependencies, data availability, and alignment to strategic priorities.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data, reporting, technology) to ensure solutions are well-defined and actionable.
* Identify root causes of business issues and recommend data-driven solutions or process improvements.
* Develop and maintain clear documentation including requirements, intake artifacts, and supporting analysis.
* Support testing activities by helping define acceptance criteria and validating that solutions meet business needs.
* Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across intake, planning, and business analysis processes.
What we're looking for
Must-Haves
* 3-5+ years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, or related roles
* Experience using SQL (e.g., MSSQL, Oracle, or similar) to query, analyze, and validate data
* Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
* Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex business problems
* Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Nice-to-Haves
* Experience supporting intake, discovery, or planning functions for data or technology initiatives
* Experience in group benefits, retirement plan, or financial services.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences
* Experience in process improvement or change initiatives

The pay range for this position is $72,900 - $131,600 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role.
The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
