ntm engineering is seeking experienced staff to fill immediate openings for archaeological crew chief and field director level positions on projects consisting of several phase i surveys, phase ii, and phase iii data recovery excavations in pennsylvania.

job requirements include a bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology and demonstrated experience in both historic and prehistoric archaeology. Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate experience working in pennsylvania. Pennsylvania residency is preferred but not required.

the hourly wage range is based on position responsibilities and previous experience. Lodging and meal per diem will be provided during the scheduled work period. Receipts are not required for per diem reimbursement. The positions have the potential to become full-time with benefits based on experience and performance.

minimum position requirements include:

• bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field.
• physical requirements include the ability to stand or kneel for long periods of time, hiking in rugged terrain, and lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs. Without restriction.
• the successful candidate will be self‑motivated, able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions and be able to work under supervision and as part of a team.

in addition, the following specifications apply to specific positions:

crew chief – requires a minimum of 3‑5 years of field experience and demonstrated leadership qualities.

field director – requires a minimum of 5‑7 years of field experience, of which at least 2 must be in a supervisory role.
