Electrical Engineer, Component Maintenance Optimization - Plant Vogtle 3&4 Job Summary
Component Engineers direct implementation of assigned programs and work processes. Major programs include breakers, large pumps and motors, air or motor operated valves, I&C subcomponents, HVAC/chillers, heat exchangers, breakers, snubbers, as well as condition‑based maintenance technologies such as vibration, thermography, motor monitoring, and oil analysis. Engineering tasks involve direct or indirect interface with the corrective action process and work scheduling. Component Engineers maintain equipment reliability, ensure regulatory compliance, apply industry best practices, manage budgets, and oversee inspections of plant equipment.
They seek long‑term performance improvements, work on key refueling outage assignments, and participate in on‑call duty rotations and emergency plan response requirements.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or PE License required
Skills and Abilities
- A background in engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards.
- Experience with motors, breakers, and relays.
- Ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions based on experience and appropriate industry practices.
- Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering preferred.
- Experience with thermography, vibrations, valves, pumps, HVAC/chillers, heat exchangers, or snubbers a plus.
- Working knowledge of Nuclear Plant Systems, structures and components preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
- Capability to work efficiently and effectively across organizations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Places highest priority on nuclear and industrial safety.
- Accepts ownership of assigned programs, projects and tasks.
- Develops strategy for optimum use of resources.
- Self‑motivated.
- Uses rigor and formality when performing work to minimize errors.
- Manages financial performance to control costs.
