Position: Elementary Math Specialist (2026-2027 School Year)

TITLE:

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MATH SPECIALIST

To positively impact student achievement through the delivery, demonstration, and support of research-based instruction in mathematics. Implement strategies in direct interaction with students to ensure that all students achieve grade level standards and promote enhanced mathematics instruction which supports student growth for future mathematics success and participation in higher level course offerings at the secondary level.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Endorsement as a Math Specialist or
  • Master’s Degree with certification as an elementary teacher with a minimum of 15 credit hours completed in Mathematics content area or hold a dual endorsement in an area of mathematics.
  • Classroom teaching experience with documented evidence of increased student achievement in the area of Mathematics
  • Working knowledge of effective mathematics instruction, content, pedagogy, and comprehensive mathematics programming.

Principal

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the principal and classroom teachers to identify students in need of additional instruction, intervention, or remediation aligned with School Improvement goals in mathematics.
  • Provide direct services to students as identified by criteria and/or serve as the teacher of record for mathematics instruction as assigned by the principal.
  • Implement effective instructional strategies that result in acceptable, measurable, and appropriate student academic progress.
  • Work with the principal, School Improvement Team, classroom teachers, and Office of Instruction to support the implementation of school/division-wide initiatives for math.
  • Demonstrate ability to transfer research based practices, which address how students learn mathematics, into classroom instruction.
  • Ensure that the curriculum is aligned with state standards and design approaches to improve student achievement.
  • Collaborate with teachers to promote their understanding of mathematics standards and provide support for the integration of evidence-based strategies and practices within the school-wide mathematics curriculum.
  • Model and demonstrate best practices in mathematics instruction, including differentiated instruction, to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Support the administration of assessments and analysis of related student data for long-range and short-range planning.
  • Assist teachers in collecting, understanding, and using data to drive instruction and identify appropriate intervention needs.
  • Establish and maintain open communication, as well as collaborative relationships with building administrators, classroom teachers, reading specialists, other math specialists, and tutors providing intervention services.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Valid Drivers License and personal transporation. Interdistrict travel may be required to carry out duties and responsibilities.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
