Job Description

Position Summary:

The Student Pathways and Postsecondary Readiness Coordinator provides leadership and coordination for school wide efforts supporting student readiness for Enrollment, Employment, and Enlistment (3E). This position ensures students graduate with a clearly defined postsecondary plan and the academic, technical, and employability skills needed for success after high school.

Working collaboratively with counselors, administrators, teachers, families, and community partners, the Coordinator aligns academic programming, career exploration, credentialing opportunities, and student supports to state accountability measures and local strategic goals.

Primary Responsibilities 3E Readiness Leadership
  • Coordinate school wide implementation of Virginia’s 3E Readiness framework, ensuring systems support:
    • Enrollment (college, university, and postsecondary training)
    • Employment (career readiness, credentials, work-based learning)
    • Enlistment (military pathways and service readiness)
  • Monitor student progress toward 3E indicators beginning in middle grades and continuing through graduation.
  • Support the development of individualized postsecondary plans for students.
  • Building community partnerships to support high quality work-based experiences.
Career and Pathway Development
  • Coordinate career exploration experiences including job shadowing, guest speakers, internships, apprenticeships, and work-based learning.
  • Support and expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways aligned to regional workforce needs.
  • Promote industry-recognized credentials, certifications, and licensure opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate career awareness and employability skills into instruction.
Postsecondary Partnerships
  • Serve as the primary liaison with:
    • Colleges and universities
    • Technical and trade schools
    • Military recruiters and service academies
    • Local employers and workforce development agencies
  • Support dual enrollment, early college, and credential-based programs.
Data, Accountability, and Reporting
  • Track and analyze student data related to:
    • 3E Readiness outcomes
    • Credentials earned
    • Work-based learning participation
    • Postsecondary placement and follow-up
  • Collaborate with administration and counseling staff to ensure accurate reporting for state accountability.
  • Use data to identify gaps and recommend targeted interventions.
Student and Family Engagement
  • Support students in resume development, interview preparation, and employability skill-building.
  • Ensure equitable access to pathway opportunities for all student groups.
Collaboration and School wide Support
  • Work closely with school counselors, administrators, CTE staff, career coach, college advisor, special education team, and ELL teams.
  • Support transitions between middle school, high school, and postsecondary environments.
  • Assist with grant implementation and special initiatives related to workforce readiness and postsecondary success.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, career development, workforce development, or a related field
  • Experience working with secondary students
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of postsecondary pathways, workforce trends, and career readiness practices
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience with CTE programs, workforce partnerships, or postsecondary advising
  • Familiarity with Virginia accountability measures and 3E Readiness indicators
  • Experience analyzing and using student data to inform programming
