Position: 4-year-old Preschool Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)

TITLE: Preschool Teacher JOB GOAL:

To develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible early educational experience for each student.

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsement in the area of early childhood education.
  • Have demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and members of the community.
  • Must have demonstrated success in working with a variety of students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILIITES:
  • Must be knowledgeable of creative, innovative, nontraditional teaching strategies that have proven successful with students.
  • Implements effective instructional strategies that result in acceptable, measurable, and appropriate student academic progress.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and meets the appropriate developmental needs of young students.
  • Develop lesson plans using age-appropriate instructional materials for individuals and groups of students.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons and units.
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences designed to achieve program objectives and curriculum goals.
  • Must have demonstrated skills with computers and other technologies as tools in the classroom.
  • Possess flexibility in teaching style and demonstrate an ability to develop concepts, produce hands‑on experiences, and integrate learning activities.
  • Establish and maintain standards of behavior.
  • Demonstrate the ability to select, adapt, and use instructional materials and resources.
  • Be proficient at assessing student progress, planning lessons, and devising ways to improve teaching.
  • Administer standardized tests following established procedures.
  • Must have the ability to use appropriate strategies for assessing, monitoring, and managing student learning.
  • The ability to recognize and respond to individual differences is essential.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Be able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with parents, coworkers, staff, and community representatives.
  • Participate in school and division-wide program initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

200-day contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
