Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator
The City of Waynesboro is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator. Individuals with no previous experience will have 18 months to obtain their Class IV Wastewater license.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator works as a member of the WWTP team to ensure wastewater is properly treated in order to protect the community and the environment. The majority of work is performed at the WWTP; however, operators are required to conduct work at other wastewater facilities and in severe weather as required.
Typical duties involve:
- Monitoring and operating equipment
- Making repairs
- Collecting test samples
Shift and weekend work required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Valid Virginia driver’s license required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) preferred
Starting salary is $22.48 an hour with potential for pay increases for acquiring additional skills and/or education. Personnel who currently hold a valid Wastewater license may potentially start at a higher salary.
