- Perform first article inspections (FAI) per AS9102 and first piece inspections, including review of associated product build documentation
- Confirm acceptable quality standards and workmanship practices in assigned work centers
- Inspect machined or partially machined parts for compliance with customer and company specifications and quality requirements
- Visually inspect in-process and completed electronic units, subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies, mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds
- Use various measuring devices and inspection equipment
- Accept, reject, or rework defective or malfunctioning units or systems
- Work from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawings, inspection instructions, and checklists
- Monitor and verify quality using statistical process or other control procedures
- Perform line clearances after each lot
- Inspect compound angles or three-dimensional projections using microscopes, micrometers, telescope gauges, and optical comparators
- Apply GD&T and interpret detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bills of Materials, specifications, and related criteria
- Obtain and maintain required security clearances; clearance process begins upon offer acceptance
- Support manufacturing operations at the Waynesboro, Virginia facility
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in mechanical inspection, assembly, machining, or hands on manufacturing, OR an Associates Degree or higher in a relevant STEM major with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical inspection, assembly, machining, or hands on manufacturing
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance plus program clearance
- Interim Secret clearance is required to start
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Must have the ability to lift up to 45lbs
- 5+ years in developing inspection plans and/or supplemental FAI inspection instructions based on part engineering documentation
- 3+ years experience utilizing CMS inspection equipment, such as CMMs, articulating arms, laser trackers, and/or 3D structured light systems
- 1+ years experience with programming CMS inspection programs from CAD models (e.g. Catia, NX, etc.)
- Expert degree of ASME Y14.5 GD&T understanding
- Experience working in AS9100-certified companies using customer-owned process specifications or Military Standards to perform inspection or work activities
- Experience working inspection activities in support of AS9102 or AS9145-related processes
- Certifications in Nondestructive Testing: (1) Visual Weld Inspection and (2) Liquid Dye Penetrant Testing

Demonstrates expertise in mechanical inspection and quality assurance, with a strong understanding of AS9102 and ASME Y14.5 GD&T. Proficient in utilizing CMS inspection equipment and developing inspection plans based on engineering documentation.
