GIS Coordinator
City of Waynesboro Community Development
Performs complex professional work related to the development, processing, analysis, mapping conversion, maintenance, and upgrade of the City's Geographic Information System (GIS); functions as database manager, systems administrator, data security officer, and performs computer aided/automated, or if required, manual cartographic mapping; works in response to a variety of assignments from City departments/agencies and other public/private entities. Assists in outlining efficiencies and innovations that can be realized in various City agency processes through the use of GIS.
Minimum Qualifications- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in geography/cartography or related field with a concentration in GIS and five or more years combined experience as a GIS Coordinator or related position in a similar hardware and software environment maintaining Geographic Information Systems, relational databases, and computer-aided cartography.
- Some supervisory and administrative experience.
- Abilities in oral, written, and graphical communication skills.
- Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license.
- Ability to manipulate (lift, carry, move) large, fragile objects weighing between 10 - 40 pounds.
- Ability to traverse unimproved, rugged terrain while completing occasional field work.
The starting salary is $36.06 - $43.27/hr.
