CDL Driver – Solid Waste Collection Operator

Pay: $23.75 – $31.79 per hour, depending on qualifications
New Hire Bonus: $4,000 (paid in installments)
Incentive:
Full day’s pay even when routes are completed early

• Operate a commercial collection truck on assigned recycling or yard waste routes.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections.
• Monitor vehicle condition, report maintenance issues, and conduct routine maintenance.
• Drive in accordance with safety procedures, traffic laws, and City standards.
• Provide reliable service to residents and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Support safe, efficient route completion as part of the Solid Waste team.
• Prepare refuse collection equipment for daily operations and maintain proper working condition.
• Complete daily route assignments and transport refuse to the Solid Waste Transfer Station or approved facilities.
• Maintain accurate daily reports and documentation.
• Cooperate with supervisors to resolve customer service requests and complaints.
• Promote a safety culture and adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations.

• Valid Kansas Class A or B CDL with air‑brake endorsement.
• Safe driving record and favorable insurance rating.
• Dependability, strong attendance, and ability to work independently.
• Physically capable of demanding work and outdoor work year‑round.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and commitment to public service teamwork.
• Preferred:
  One year of related experience (commercial truck, solid waste, sanitation, public works, construction hauling, or related heavy truck operations).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., or until all routes are completed. Holidays off include Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. If a holiday falls on a weekday, employees are required to work the following Saturday. All other holidays are work days.
