Diesel Technician II

Overview

Fleet Pride is the largest after-market distributor of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts in the U.S. The company seeks skilled technicians to support preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across vehicle systems. The Mobile Technician III may train and develop other technicians and participate in after-hours on-call rotations as needed. The role involves shop work between service calls and performing major repairs and adjustments as required.

• Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunction(s).
• Provide customers with preventive maintenance solutions when appropriate.
• Maintain 80% productivity.
• Inspect orders for completeness and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services (oil changes, lubrications, filter replacements).
• Repair, relin e, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric, and brake accessories).
• Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems (including leaf and coil spring systems and Hendrickson walking-beam suspensions).
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTOs and custom exhaust systems.
• Adjust, remove, and replace clutches and drive lines.
• Overhaul, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
• Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles, and frames.
• Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs.
• Perform basic aluminum and steel welding.
• Review service stories provided by service writers and determine tasks required to complete the order in a timely manner.
• File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
• Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.
• Practice safe driving.
• Other duties assigned.

High school diploma or GED;
Diesel Technology certificate/degree is a plus but not required.

• 7+ years of experience repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers.
• Diagnostic experience.
• Training experience.
• Welding.
• Air Brake Certified.

• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record;
  Class A CDL preferred but not required.
• Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.
• Maintain a perfect safety record.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Work environment includes inside/outside conditions, extreme temperatures (average around 100 degrees

F), humid conditions, chemical hazards, vibration, equipment noise, and working in enclosed or confined spaces.
