Position Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as‑needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Faculty are expected to conduct instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes, prepare instructional materials, provide timely feedback, respond to student communications, submit final grades, maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, attend faculty meetings, assess courses, complete required training, and perform other related duties as assigned. Clinical faculty must also supervise and instruct students during clinical experiences, evaluate student achievement, supervise students at clinical sites and health fairs, perform venipuncture as needed, maintain documentation of student progress, and conduct didactic instruction in phlebotomy and waived testing.

Must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses in workforce certificate or degree completion programs, including an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Associate degree with 2–5 years work experience in the field;
Bachelor’s degree with 6–10 years experience;
Master’s degree with 11–15 years experience;
Doctorate with 16+ years experience. Clinical instructors must provide current certification in phlebotomy or clinical laboratory science, or have one year of full‑time phlebotomy experience. Didactic faculty must provide an associate degree or higher, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of 30 college credit hours and 3 years of relevant teaching experience.
Both clinical and didactic instructors must provide current certification in phlebotomy or clinical laboratory science and document continuing education hours (2.0 CEUs or 20 hours) within the previous two years. Nationally recognized certification such as ASCP is required.
One year of full‑time phlebotomy experience for clinical instruction; for didactic instruction, a minimum of two years experience in a clinical laboratory.
Special RequirementsThis position is designated as a security‑sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
