Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
Primary duties of full time faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as recruiting, advising, and mentoring students in and outside of the classroom. The faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, be they face-to-face, hybrid, online, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
Full time faculty members are also responsible for participation in professional development activities, serving on college committees, developing and updating curriculum, textbook, equipment selection and instructional materials. Faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Works with and maintains accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care Programs, as well as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
1. Establishes and maintains Clinical Affiliations with area health care facilities.
2. Makes original contact with prospective clinical facilities. Negotiate with clinical facility liaison to establish annual contracts.
3. Monitor clinical relationship with facilities throughout the year.
4. Institute the annual clinical contract renewal with facilities.
5. Continually seek new clinical affiliations to improve program quality.
6. Provide effective leadership in developing, conducting, and ongoing assessment of the clinical education program.
Clinical Coordinators will be given a 3.75 load reduction to accomplish the required duties of the Clinical Coordinator.
Performs other duties relating to curriculum and instruction as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
All faculty members must meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) academic, oral and written English proficiency requirements. All full time faculty members must demonstrate a willingness and abilities to teach day, evening and/or weekend classes in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit environments. Must possess or currently working on a Baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a federally recognized institutional accrediting agency, hold a valid RRT credential and current state license.
Four (4) years’ experience as an RRT with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/ preceptor for students of such programs. Must meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) academic, oral and written English proficiency requirements.
Must be willing to teach day, evening and/or weekend classes.
Required Education
All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a federally recognized institutional accrediting agency, hold a valid RRT credential and current state license.
