Adjunct Instructor ‑ Organizational Leadership
Position Summary
The Organizational Leadership discipline at Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. Candidates are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position, which adds them to a pool for consideration when a need arises during the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the applicant pool on an as‑needed basis. Primary duties include teaching courses in the approved discipline, facilitating student acquisition of specific learning outcomes, mentoring students inside and outside the classroom, and creating an effective learning environment in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual‑credit instruction modalities.
Hours vary and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty are expected to adhere to College policies and procedures.
- Teach courses in the approved discipline.
- Provide instruction that facilitates the achievement of specified learning outcomes.
- Mentor students both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment across face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual‑credit settings.
- Engage in instructional preparation for all modalities.
- Provide timely feedback and respond promptly to student communications.
- Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely manner.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
- Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete required training and other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards.
- Earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the discipline.
- Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.
- At least two years of industry experience in organizational leadership.
- Evidence of instructional competence and documented successful teaching experience.
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies and pedagogical strategies.
- Good time‑management skills.
- Background checks: security‑sensitive position requiring a satisfactory criminal history background check. Male candidates aged 18‑25 must be registered with the Selective Service System.
- Teaching experience with working professionals, bridging leadership theory to practice.
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- Related field and/or industry certifications, if applicable.
- Ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual‑credit courses.
- Ability to create a professional and effective learning environment.
- Strong communication skills with students, colleagues, and the public.
- Respect for diversity and commitment to non‑discrimination.
- Highest professional and ethical standards in use of College time and resources.
- Compliance with College policies and procedures.
