Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as‑needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom.
Teaching Modalities and HoursThe adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach courses in the approved discipline and facilitate student acquisition of course learning outcomes.
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes, including face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses.
- Engage in instructional preparation and provide timely feedback to students.
- Assess student performance, submit final grades in a timely fashion, and maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Be available to students by appointment, attend adjunct faculty meetings, and assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete any required training and other related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree and/or 2–5 years work experience in the field of study;
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 6–10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study;
- Master’s degree and/or 11–15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study;
- Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
- Experience teaching face‑to‑face in a lab setting.
- Valid A+ certification.
- Experience teaching with Canvas and Cengage Mindtap.
Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses; create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers, and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, or gender identity;
exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources; and observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
- The position is designated as a security‑sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check.
- Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
