Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position, which adds them to a pool for consideration when a need arises for the academic year. Hiring will occur on an as‑needed basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach courses in the approved discipline and provide instruction that facilitates student acquisition of specific learning outcomes.
- Mentor students inside and outside the classroom.
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit modalities.
- Deliver instruction in traditional and non‑traditional learning modes.
- Engage in instructional preparation and give timely feedback to students.
- Respond to student communications in a timely manner.
- Assess student performance, including submission of final grades promptly.
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior and be available to students by appointment.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings and assess courses at departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete required training and other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum credentials per Southern Association of Colleges and Schools standards for teaching workforce certificate or degree completion courses: appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
- Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.
- Associate degree and/or 2–5 years work experience in the field of study.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 6–10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
- Master’s degree and/or 11–15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
- Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
- 3 years field experience in a 911 service.
- Current Paramedic Texas Department of State Health Services certification in EMS.
- American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS provider certifications.
- Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Instructor certification.
- Copies of certificates/license must be submitted with application.
- Associate’s degree in EMS.
- Texas Department of State Health Services Basic Coordinator certification.
- American Heart Association Instructor Certification.
- Minimum 1 year of educational teaching in a clinical, preceptor, higher education, or continuing education EMS/Paramedic role.
Skills and Abilities
Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that achieves specific goals and objectives; create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice without discrimination; exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources;
and observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
- This position is designated as a security-sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check.
- Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
