Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrimary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit instruction).
Faculty are expected to provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes, engage in instructional preparation, provide timely feedback, and respond to student communications in a timely manner. Students are assessed, with final grades submitted in a timely fashion. Faculty maintain ethical and professional behavior, remain available to students by appointment, attend adjunct faculty meetings, assess courses at departmental and institutional levels, complete required training, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards for faculty teaching workforce certificate or degree completion courses, including an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or licenses must be submitted with the application.
- Associate degree and/or 2‑5 years work experience in the field of study
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 6‑10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
- Master’s degree and/or 11‑15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
- Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study
LCDC, MA, MSW, LCSW, LPC. Copies of certificates/licenses must be submitted with the application.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that achieves specific goals and objectives; create a professional and effective learning environment; communicate effectively with students, college personnel, peers and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice; exercise the highest professional and ethical standards; and observe the College policies and procedures.
