Adjunct Instructor – Developmental Reading/Writing
Position Summary:
Weatherford College occasionally opens adjunct instructor roles. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous‑recruitment position. When an opening arises, the hiring manager will select from the applicant pool as needed. The role involves teaching courses in developmental reading and writing, facilitating student acquisition of specified learning outcomes, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom.

Requires satisfactory criminal‑history background check. Males, ages 18–25, must be registered with the Selective Service System.
- Teach courses in developmental reading and/or writing across face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, or dual‑credit formats.
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment appropriate for each modality.
- Provide timely feedback, respond to student communications, and submit final grades promptly.
- Engage in instructional preparation, assessment of student performance, and course evaluation.
- Adhere to College policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings and complete required training.
- Be available to students by appointment and maintain professionalism at all times.
- Education:
Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching workforce‑certificate or degree‑completion courses. This includes an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated discipline competency.- Associate degree with 2–5 years of relevant work experience;
- Bachelor’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant work experience;
- Master’s degree with 11–15 years of relevant work experience;
- Doctorate degree with 16+ years of relevant work experience.
- Required documents:
Transcripts, certificates, and/or licenses.
- Master’s Degree (or higher) in English, Reading, Education, or related field.
- ESL certification.
- 1–2 years of experience teaching developmental reading and/or writing.
- Experience using Moodle LMS and My Skills Lab .
- Teaching experience in developmental reading and/or writing courses.
Ability to instruct across face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual‑credit settings; to design effective learning environments; to communicate effectively with students, peers, and administration; to treat all individuals with respect and equity; and to uphold the College’s ethical standards.
