Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as-needed basis.
Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face-to-face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
- Teach courses in the approved discipline and provide instruction that facilitates student acquisition of specific learning outcomes.
- Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment in face-to-face, hybrid, online, or dual credit courses.
- Engage in instructional preparation and provide timely feedback to students.
- Respond to student communications in a timely manner.
- Assess student performance and submit final grades promptly.
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Be available to students by appointment.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings and assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete any required training and other related duties as assigned.
All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards which normally include an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.

Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; to provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses; to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; to communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups; to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination;
to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources; and to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
