Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment adds the applicant to a pool that the departmental search committee consults when a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as‑needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Teach courses in the assigned discipline.
- Provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of learning outcomes.
- Mentor students in and outside the classroom.
- Maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
- Maintain good rapport with students.
- Show flexibility in schedule to teach day, evening, and/or weekend classes.
- Ensure students are prepared for the National Health career Association certification exam.
- Provide hands‑on training in clinical laboratory skills, including general patient care, vitals, EKG, basic phlebotomy, and office support skills.
- Administer and grade student assignments and exams.
- Provide necessary reporting to the college.
- Check on student progress throughout externship.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation.
- Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly.
- Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion.
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Be available to students by appointment.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
- Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete any required training.
- Associate’s degree and/or a minimum of 5 years work experience in the field of study.
- Must hold an active Clinical Medical Assistant certification and/or LVN or RN license.
- All faculty members must possess Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion.
- At least one year of experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in a clinic, urgent care, or hospital setting.
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- LVN or RN with a minimum of five years of nursing experience within a healthcare environment.
- Multiple years of nursing experience and experience teaching adults from different backgrounds in a classroom setting.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses.
- Ability to provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives of all assigned courses.
- Ability to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, college personnel, peers, and public groups.
- Ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice without discrimination based on age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- Ability to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources.
- Ability to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
- This position is designated as security‑sensitive and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check.
- Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
