Position Summary Information

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom.

The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face-to-face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.

All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.

Special Instructions

This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.

Required Education

All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards which normally include an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline.
Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction that facilitates student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes for assigned courses.
  • Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned (face-to-face, hybrid, online, or dual credit).
  • Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly.
  • Assess student performance; submit final grades in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
  • Be available to students by appointment.
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
  • Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
  • Complete any required training.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
