Position Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. The applicant will be added to a pool for consideration if a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool on an as-needed basis. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrimary duties include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of specific learning outcomes for assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit). Faculty are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures, provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes, engage in instructional preparation, provide timely feedback and respond to student communications promptly, assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely manner, maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, attend adjunct faculty meetings, assess courses at departmental and institutional levels, complete required training, and perform related duties as assigned.
RequiredEducation
All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards, normally including an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.
Required ExperienceMinimum of 4 semesters college‑level experience in online, hybrid, and/or face‑to‑face classroom modalities, with enrollments comprising traditional and non‑traditional student populations.
Preferred EducationPreferred education and qualifications not specified beyond the required education; see above.
Preferred ExperienceExperience teaching face‑to‑face and online art appreciation.

Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that will achieve specific goals and objectives; create a professional learning environment; communicate effectively with students, college personnel, peers, and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice; exercise the highest professional and ethical standards; and observe College policies and procedures.
