Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. By applying for an adjunct appointment, you are added to a pool that the departmental search committee may consider if a need arises during the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as‑needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, which may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
Hours vary depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
- Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards: earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline.
- Doctorate in Nursing, PhD, or DNP.
- Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.
At least 3 years clinical experience.
Preferred Education & ExperienceOnline instruction and 3 years nursing practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach courses in the approved discipline.
- Provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses.
- Mentor students in and outside of the classroom.
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, dual credit).
- Maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation.
- Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly.
- Assess student performance, including submission of final grades, in a timely fashion.
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Be available to students by appointment.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
- Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete any required training and other related duties as assigned.
- Instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses.
- Provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses.
- Create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory.
- Communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers, and public groups.
- Treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice; do not discriminate based on age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- Use the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources.
- Observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
- This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check.
- Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
