Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous‑recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment adds the applicant to a pool that the departmental search committee can consider when a need arises in the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool on an as‑needed basis.

- Teach courses in the approved discipline using face‑to‑face, hybrid, online (Zoom), or dual‑credit instruction modalities.
- Provide instruction that facilitates student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses.
- Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.
- Maintain an effective learning environment in all instructional modalities.
- Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly.
- Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely manner.
- Meet ethical and professional standards; treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice without discrimination.
- Be available to students by appointment and attend adjunct faculty meetings.
- Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels and complete any required training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards: earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the discipline.
- Submit transcripts, certificates, and/or license with application.
- Complete four years of progressive engineering experience under a Professional Engineer (PE).
- Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam.
The adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual‑credit courses; to provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives of all assigned courses; to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; to communicate effectively with students, college personnel, peers, and public groups; to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice;
to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources; and to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
This position is designated as a security‑sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
