Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment will add the applicant to a pool, which the departmental search committee may consider when a need arises during the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as‑needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of specific learning outcomes for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned—face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
Hours vary depending on need and course schedule and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Required EducationAll faculty members must satisfy the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards, which normally include an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.
Required ExperienceMinimum of 4 semesters of college‑level experience in online, hybrid, and/or face‑to‑face classroom modalities, with enrollments comprising traditional and non‑traditional student populations.
Preferred Education & ExperienceExperience teaching face‑to‑face and online art appreciation.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFaculty are expected to provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes, engage in instructional preparation, provide timely feedback to students, respond to student communications promptly, assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion, maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, attend adjunct faculty meetings, assess courses at departmental and institutional levels, complete any required training, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that achieves specified course goals; create a professional and effective learning environment; communicate effectively with students, college personnel, administration, peers, and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice without discrimination; exercise high professional and ethical standards; and observe the College policies and procedures.
