Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis.
The adjunct faculty member is responsible for creating and maintaining an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face-to-face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary, depending on need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Required EducationAll faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.
- Associate degree and/or 2-5 years work experience in the field of study.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 6-10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
- Master’s degree and/or 11-15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
- Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Licensed to practice OTR or COTA in Texas.
Required Experience- Minimum 3 years practice experience.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Teach courses in the approved discipline and provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses.
- Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.
- Maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, including face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit instruction.
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation.
- Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner.
- Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion.
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Be available to students by appointment.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
- Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete required training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.

Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that achieves specific goals and objectives; create a professional and effective learning environment; communicate effectively with students and college personnel; treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice; exercise the highest professional and ethical standards; and observe documented policies and procedures.
