Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment adds the applicant to a pool that the departmental search committee may consider when a need arises during the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool on an as‑needed basis.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrimary duties include teaching courses in the approved discipline, facilitating student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned—face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, or dual‑credit instruction. Faculty are expected to provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation.
Responsibilities also include providing timely feedback, responding to student communications, assessing student performance, maintaining ethical and professional behavior, being available to students by appointment, attending adjunct faculty meetings, assessing courses on departmental and institutional levels, completing required training, and performing other related duties as assigned.
All faculty members must meet the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards, which normally include an earned master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual‑credit courses.
- Provide instruction that achieves specific goals and objectives for all assigned courses.
- Create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory.
- Communicate effectively with students, college personnel, administration, peers, and public groups.
- Treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice, without discrimination based on age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- Exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of college time and resources.
- Observe the stated policies and procedures of the college.
This position is designated as a security‑sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
