Adjunct Instructor- EMSP Academy
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis.
Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face-to-face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction.
Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Required Education
- All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application. Associate degree and/or 2-5 years work experience in the field of study;
Bachelor's degree and/or 6-10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study;
Master's degree and/or 11-15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study;
Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
Required Experience
- Three (3) years field experience in a 911 service. Must provide a current Paramedic Texas Department of State Health Services Certification in EMS. Copy of current license must be submitted with application. Required within 6 months of hire date:
Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Instructor, American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS provider certifications. Copies of certificates/license must be submitted to HR if not submitted with application.
Preferred Education
- Associate's degree in EMS. Texas Department of State Health Services Basic Coordinator. American Heart Association Instructor Certification.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 1 year of educational teaching in a clinical, preceptor, higher education, or continuing education EMS/Paramedic Role.

- Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; ability to provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses; ability to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; ability to communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups;
ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity; ability to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources; and, ability to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
