Adjunct Instructor – Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applicants who qualify will be added to a pool that the departmental search committee may consult when a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool on an as‑needed basis.
This is a security‑sensitive position requiring a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males 18 to 25 years old must be registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.

Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, which may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual‑credit instruction.
Hours vary depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to college policies and procedures.
Required Education
All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.
- Associate degree and/or 2–5 years work experience in the field of study;
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 6–10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study;
- Master’s degree and/or 11–15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study;
- Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
Required Experience
Applicant must have experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including understanding of how to connect logic between systems in industrial automation, including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Preferred Experience
Five years experience in PLCs.

Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual‑credit courses; the ability to provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses; the ability to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; the ability to communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups;
the ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity; the ability to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of college time and resources; and, the ability to observe the stated policies and procedures of the college.
