Adjunct Instructor – Associate Degree Nursing (ADN)

This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, which may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction.

Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.

All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards, which normally include an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.

• Hold a Master’s degree or doctorate degree, preferably in nursing.
• If the Master’s or doctorate degree is in a discipline other than nursing, hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an approved or accredited baccalaureate program in nursing and at least six graduate semester hours in nursing appropriate to assigned teaching responsibilities; or if teaching in a baccalaureate level program, have at least 12 graduate semester hours in nursing appropriate to the assigned teaching responsibilities.

• Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in Texas.
• Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the assigned teaching area.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience.

Faculty are expected to provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation. They must provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly, assess student performance, submit final grades in a timely fashion, maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, attend adjunct faculty meetings, assess courses at departmental and institutional levels, and complete any required training and other related duties as assigned.

Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; to provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses; to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; to communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups; to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice without discrimination;

to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources; and to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the College’s auto insurance.
