The responsibilities of the Chemist include material requirement analysis, silicone compound development, technical sales support, raw material evaluation, and acting as the liaison between Manufacturing and Purchasing, Sales and Engineering.

• Understand material specifications and testing requirements to recommend suitable compounds.
• Build bill of material for new compounds and update current formulations.
• Continuous evaluation of formulations and their cost.
• Technical resource for sales support and quality initiatives.
• Manage external material suppliers as needed. Establish new suppliers and formula alternatives.
• Act as project manager on material development initiatives.
• Standard work creation for lab equipment, tests, and procedures.
• Work with Customer Service and Sales to meet customer requirements.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry and two years of polymer chemistry / manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of polymer chemistry.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (especially Excel).
• Strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpretational skills, and superior organizational abilities as well as exceptional multitasking skills.
• Need the ability to analyze situations to ensure the correct resolution is reached.
• Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.

• Salary based on experience.
