Duties include operating a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) system while also supporting broader conventional and unconventional core analysis workflows.

The ideal candidate will have strong laboratory experience, mechanical aptitude, analytical discipline, and hands-on familiarity with geological sample handling and core analysis procedures. This position will work closely with geologists, petrophysicists, engineers, alongside laboratory staff to generate high-quality analytical data supporting reservoir characterization, completion optimization, and field development programs across EOG's asset portfolio.

The role will also support laboratory programs focused on Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), reservoir fluids characterization, fluid-rock interaction studies, and experimental testing of surfactant, polymer, and other chemical treatment technologies.

This is a technician-focused role requiring both instrument operation and practical laboratory execution in a fast-paced applied research and operations environment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) systems.
  • Acquire high-quality secondary electron (SE) and back scatter electron (BSE) images of geological materials, including elemental analysis and mineral identification using EDS workflows.
  • Assist with development and optimization of SEM imaging procedures for unconventional reservoir characterization.
  • Prepare geological samples including core plugs, slabbed core, cuttings, polished mounts and Ion-milled samples including conductive coating and maintaining sample prep equipment
  • Organize and archive analytical images and laboratory data.
Core Analysis Support
  • Support routine and specialized core analysis workflows on conventional and unconventional reservoir samples.
  • Assist with laboratory testing including porosity and permeability measurements, fluid saturation analysis, extractions & drying, rock sample preparation, Special Core Analysis Testing
  • Assist with laboratory measurement of reservoir rock properties including wettability, capillary pressure, relative permeability, fluid saturation, and fluid-rock interaction experiments.
