Dev Ops Engineer

Assist the various departments across Nextlink Operations to help identify and create scripts or tools for process automation and data collection uniformity. The DEVOPS Engineer will also assist in the deployment, development, and maintenance of the Nextlink physical and cloud compute/server infrastructure and the testing of new infrastructure devices coming on to the Nextlink network.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, test, and maintain up to date device models for the Nextlink Monitoring systems.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain scripts/tools for process or task automation to improve efficiency.
  • Assist in the deployment, development, and maintenance of physical or cloud compute infrastructure.
  • Assist as a subject matter expert for network operation and infrastructure devices.
  • Assist the Data operations team in the collection for network or infrastructure device data collections.
  • Documentation of code and work according to Nextlink standard operating procedures.

Skills:

  • Candidate should also be highly motivated, very organized, and can multitask.
  • Knowledge and experience with Python and other common automation programming languages.
  • Knowledge and experience with physical server and computer hardware.
  • Knowledge and experience with cloud compute services such as GCP or AWS.
  • Advanced Network operation and design experience.
  • Ability to document and use tools such as Git Hub or other code repositories.
  • Ability to document, track, prioritize, and report on work/projects.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree (A.

    A.) or equivalent from one-year College or technical school; or two-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with routers, switches, and other common network or wireless devices.
  • Minimum of 2 years' SNMP experience, Basic Routing Experience, Basic Wireless experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience or training in Python, HTML, CSS, JAVA, Bash, and other programming languages.
  • Minimum of 2 years' of experience with Linux, windows, and other desktop or server operating systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years' of experience with computer and server hardware or cloud compute services.

Work Environment /Hazards:

  • Working conditions primarily inside an office environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • High level of interaction with external/internal clients

Physical Demands:

  • Able to frequently move, transport, positions objects of 50 pounds or more
  • Stationary position for 8-10 hours a day
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment.
  • To perform this job successfully, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. Daily movements include sitting, standing, operating computers and other office equipment and moving about the office. The employee must be able to communicate via email and verbally via telephone

Working Hours/Days:

  • Full-time
  • Ability to work off hours, weekends, or night shift as required to support a 24 x 7 service provider network.

Travel Requirements:

  • Able to travel 0-10% of the time
