Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for a Float Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Medical Oncology Department at Weatherford, TX. This is a full‑time Monday–Friday position (8:30 am–5 pm) with no weekends, call or major holidays. The float RN will travel between Weatherford, Azle, Granbury, and occasionally Cleburne.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record information in the patient chart.
- Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
- Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart.
- Facilitate communication between patients/families and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
- Assist patients in locating available community resources.
- Interprofessional collaboration.
- Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
- Willing to consider entry, mid, or senior level candidates.
- Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

The work environment is typical of an oncology/hematology clinic. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations exists. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Physical RequirementsRequires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
