Position Title:

Campus Police Officer

Responsible for the execution of the Weatherford College Police Department’s mission statement; to provide a safe and secure environment on the Weatherford College Campus. Protects the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to Weatherford College; guards college property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

• Patrol campus buildings and grounds, examine doors, windows, gates to ensure they are secure; warn violators of rule infractions and apprehend or expel those engaged in suspicious or criminal acts.
• Inspect equipment and machinery for tampering; investigate accidents, incidents, and offenses, prepare appropriate reports.
• Regulate traffic and parking to maintain orderly flow; enforce campus motor vehicle rules and regulations.
• Maintain uniforms, equipment, and vehicles; watch for irregularities such as hazards, leaking water pipes, and unsecured doors.
• Sound alarms and notify fire department; permit authorized persons to enter property.
• Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and equipment malfunction for supervisory staff.
• Prevent crime, preserve peace, protect life and property, detect and arrest violators of law, enforce state and local ordinances in accordance with department policies and procedures.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• HS diploma or equivalent; TX basic peace officer certification.
• 30 college credit hours (preferred).
• 0-6 months related experience (required); prior law enforcement experience preferred.
• Active TCOLE license required; valid current driver’s license required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; males aged 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service System.
• Background check required, security‑sensitive position.
• Ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice; exercise highest professional ethical standards.

• Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
• Effectively present information to various groups if necessary.
• Exercise highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources.

Supervises on‑duty security personnel.

Requires walking, standing, and sitting constantly; lifting 21-50 lbs occasionally; carrying up to 20 lbs constantly; pushing/pulling over 50 lbs occasionally; occasional kneeling/squatting; handling firearms safely; operating vehicles; maintaining vision for situational awareness. Work may involve noisy and windy conditions, confined spaces, and exposure to weather.
