A Vehicle CVSC (Customer Vehicle Service Center) Technician is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of customer vehicles to ensure they operate safely, efficiently, and meet manufacturer specifications. This role often involves direct interaction with customers and service teams, as well as working with advanced diagnostic and calibration equipment.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Vehicle Inspection & Diagnostics:
Inspect vehicles for mechanical, electrical, or performance issues; use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and recommend repairs. - Preventive Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire services, fluid top-ups, and filter replacements. - Repairs & Replacements:
Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective parts (engines, transmissions, suspension, electrical systems) following OEM or engineering specifications. - Calibration & Testing:
Assist in calibration projects, set up test equipment, and run standardized test cycles for powertrain or vehicle systems. - Customer Service:
Communicate repair findings, timelines, and recommendations to customers; explain maintenance needs and care instructions. - Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate repair logs, parts used, and service history for invoicing and customer support. - Workplace Standards:
Ensure tools, work areas, and safety equipment are clean, operational and compliant with safety protocols. - Technology Use:
Stay updated on new automotive technologies and apply best practices to improve service quality.
- Education:
Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive, or related field; high school diploma or equivalent. - Certifications:
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification; DOT, ICAR, OEM, A/C, MVAC, MRPT, BLS, EV, HV, or equivalent industry certifications. - Experience:
Automotive or vehicle service technician experience; preferably with diesel engines, hydraulics, or heavy equipment; apprenticeship or NVQ equivalent desirable. - Skills:
Proficiency with hydraulics, diesel engines, gauges, diagnostic tools, and calibration equipment; strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. - Licenses:
Valid driver's license (preferably LGV C+E category). - Soft Skills:
Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork abilities.
- May work in a service center, dealership, or on-site at customer locations.
- Requires ability to lift heavy parts, work in confined spaces, and follow strict safety and quality standards.
- Exposure to automotive fluids, fumes, and electrical systems.
