- Friday 7 AM - 5:30 PM (4-10-hour shifts). This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call-back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

Stormwater Operations maintains over 1,000 miles of Storm drainpipe and approximately 300 miles of open channels, ensuring our citizens are safe from flooding.
An Equipment Operator-Stormwater Operations position is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department Stormwater Division. Candidates selected for this position will work in the Channel Maintenance/Restoration Program.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma/GED and one year of experience in operation of heavy equipment or construction experience
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License Class "A" at the time of hire based on assignment with no air brake restrictions
- Must possess a Class A Driver's License and ability to obtain a Tank Endorsement will be required within six (6) months of hire;
Operations of a hydro-mulch vehicle, water truck, and/or Vactor as required
- Operate complex equipment (dump truck and trailer, pay loader, excavator, compactor, dozer, gradall, etc) while performing channel maintenance and reconstruction
- Traffic Control
- Use various hand and power tools (shovels, chainsaw, welder)
- Operates a variety of motorized equipment including but not limited to front-end loaders, backhoes, brush trucks, sand trucks, dump trucks, hydro-mulch truck, water truck, street sweepers, cranes, trenchers, bucket trucks, bush-hogs, bobcats, tractors with various attachments, forklifts and other related maintenance, construction, solid waste and environmental equipment
- Operates various hand tools
- Performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to completion of assigned jobs, such as cutting branches, shoveling asphalt and mowing grass
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned. Perform pre and post trip inspection on equipment. Completes daily operations reports and time sheets
- Meets with crew leaders and other supervisory personnel to determine job methods and best use of motorized equipment
- Performs all assigned tasks while adhering to the highest safety standards. Works with crew leader to remove any unsafe working conditions. Assists with set-up of traffic cones and barriers
- Loads and unloads heavy materials and equipment by hand and with tools/machines
