Strat II Elementary Special Education Teacher

What You'll Do Provide instruction and support for elementary students with diverse learning needs, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices, monitor student progress and adjust instruction, build strong relationships with students and families, contribute to a positive and supportive school culture, conduct assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify student needs, participate in IEP meetings and develop Individualized Education Plans, implement IEPs and behavior intervention plans, collaborate with staff, families, and outside agencies, support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth, maintain accurate records and monitor student progress, encourage family engagement and communication, participate in ongoing professional learning.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Knowledge of special education practices and differentiated instruction, understanding of data systems and progress monitoring, ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, commitment to continuous professional growth.
Physical Demands Work is performed in a standard school environment. Licensure / Endorsement Requirements Preferred candidates will hold one or more of the following Iowa endorsements: K - 6 Elementary Classroom Teacher - 102, K - 8 Instructional Strategist II: - 264, K - 12 Strategist I
- All - 259. Other applicable Iowa content endorsements may also be considered! Candidates who are eligible for licensure or are currently completing an approved teacher preparation program are encouraged to apply.
What We Offer Minimum starting salary: $50,000 for educators new to the profession (2026 - 27 salary schedule pending board approval), strong team structures and collaboration time, mentorship and support for new teachers, a district culture focused on student learning and continuous improvement.
