Job Title: Meat Clerk

Department: Meat

Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all interactions; smile, greet customers, learn their names and address them by name when possible.
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out‑of‑reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, noting suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Answer the telephone promptly, taking customer orders and providing friendly assistance to callers.
  • Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Wrap, weigh and label product; review food status and appearance for freshness; stock cases or rotate product.
  • Finish trims on steaks, roasts and chops; prepare retail cuts, including seafood for traying.
  • Prepare and organize seafood items for display; follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and neat.
  • Replenish and organize coolers; report out‑of‑stock products to appropriate personnel.
  • Tray, slice, tenderize and grind product; remove trash in a timely manner.
  • Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines regarding personal hygiene and dress; adhere to company policies and store guidelines.
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Assist in other areas of the store as needed and perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
  • Prepare some department signs and order replenishment merchandise as directed by management.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18+.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; food safety training required.
  • Up to six months of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or verbal instructions; handle a few concrete variables.
  • Perform simple addition and subtraction; copy figures, count and record.
  • Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
  • Physical capability to exert up to 85 lbs occasionally, 40 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly; perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Visual requirements: vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction; depth perception; color vision; field of vision.
Working Conditions

Position is continually exposed to a cool environment and dampness; frequent noise from saws; exposure to cleaning solvents; possibility of electrical shock; fast‑paced work environment.
