** What You'll Do
** No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:
* Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome in the bakery
* Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter
* Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift
* Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking
* Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times
* Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
* Operate the department register to process payments where applicable
* Remove trash in a timely manner and maintain a tidy department
* Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
* Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
* Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed

Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home, and Bakery Department Manager
** Your Skills
** You don't need prior experience for this role! We'll happily train and support you as you grow. To be successful, you'll need to be able to:
* Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
* Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording
* Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
* Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy bakery environment
* Less than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred

*** Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience accepted
* Up to six months of similar or related work experience preferred
** Physical Requirements
*** Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
* Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
* Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
* Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
* Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
** Working Environment
** This role is based in a store bakery environment where things stay busy and engaging. You may encounter exposure to flour dust, noise, temperature extremes, and damp conditions, all pretty standard for a bakery setting. The role also involves working with and around standard bakery equipment and may include exposure to electrical equipment and cleaning products or solvents. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
