The therapist is expected to be able to perform all modes of Respiratory care as defined in the department policy and procedure manual. These tasks will include, but are not limited too, delivery of small volume nebulizers, drawing of arterial blood gases, maintaining artificial airways and mechanical ventilation. The therapist must be competent to deliver these therapies to all age groups ranging from perinatal to geriatric.

I. Major Responsibilities:  
1. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.  
2. Appropriately documents all care activity performed and charges in the hospital EMR system  
3. Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities  
4. Demonstrates competency in utilization and maintenance of arterial blood gas machines.  
5. Demonstrates competency in proper set up and utilization of all mechanical ventilators  
6. Demonstrates competency in proper set up and utilization of the V60 NIPPV  
7. Demonstrates competency in proper set up and utilization of all High Flow Oxygen Therapy systems  
8. Demonstrates competency in the disinfection, transport and set up of all non-disposable equipment.  
9. Adheres to the Hospitals’ Standards of Behavior.  10. Completes all hospital and department annual competencies.

Education:

Required:

1. Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care.  
2. Licensed in the state of Massachusetts in respiratory care, license may be in full or limited capacity.  
3. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers (BLSHP).  4.
