Job DutiesRN – Major Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
- Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
- Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
- Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
- Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
- Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
LPN – Major Responsibilities:
- Uses Nursing process to assess and plan care.
- Effectively performs Nursing tasks utilizing policy and procedure.
- Functions effectively in all urgent and emergent situations.
- Delegates effectively.
- Coordinates exchange of information between staff, physicians and administration.
- Manages the dynamics of changing flow and acuity of the unit.
RN –
Required:
- Current Massachusetts licensure and registration.
- Completion of an accredited school of nursing program.
- BLS is required for every RN unless ACLS certification is current, plus any unit specific certifications and competencies.
LPN –
Required:
- Graduation and training from an accredited school of nursing with current license by the Massachusetts B.O.R.N.
- American Heart Association or equivalent BLS certification for health care provider required upon hire or during orientation.
RN –
Required:
- Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
LPN – Preferred:
- A minimum of one year of general medical‑surgical experience is preferred.
Department‑specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments and will be attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
Specialized Role – Hyperbaric RNThis RN focuses on the administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician and is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems. This RN is also designated as the HBO Safety Director.
In addition to a MA RN license, the following is required:
- Be certified as a CHT, CHRN or DMT within 36 months of hire.
- Must complete a National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology approved hyperbaric medicine introductory course within 6 months of hire.
