Position: RN/LPN, Adult Psychiatric (Inpatient) - 32 hours, Evenings

This RN position is responsible for planning, delivering, and managing direct patient care using the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice. The LPN staff member works under the supervision of the Nurse Director or designee and is responsible for nursing care of assigned patients, including prescribing, delegating, and coordinating care administered by staff.

RN Responsibilities

Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from admission to discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.

Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.

Develops and coordinates individual plans of care, including discharge planning.

Directs, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates nursing care within the assigned clinical setting.

Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.

Documents patient care according to standard procedure.

RN Qualifications

Current Massachusetts licensure and registration.

Completion of an accredited school of nursing program.

BLS is a requirement for every RN unless ACLS certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.

Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Unless certification, licensure, or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

LPN Responsibilities

Uses Nursing process to assess and plan care.

Effectively performs Nursing tasks utilizing policy and procedure.

Functions effectively in all urgent and emergent situations.

Delegates effectively.

Coordinates exchange of information between staff, physicians, and administration.

Manages the dynamics of changing flow and acuity of the unit.

LPN Qualifications

Graduation and training from an accredited school of nursing with current license by the Massachusetts B.O.R.N.

American Heart Association or equivalent BLS certification for health care provider required upon hire or during orientation.

Preferred: A minimum of one year of general medical-surgical experience.

Hyperbaric RN Responsibilities

This RN focuses on the administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician and is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems.

This RN is also designated as the HBO Safety Director.

In addition to a MA RN license, the following is required:

Be certified as a CHT, CHRN, or DMT within 36 months of hire.
Must complete a National Board certification.
