ShiftSchedule
This is a day shift position with hours from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The role follows a rotating 2‑2‑3 schedule: two days on, two days off, three days on, followed by two days off, two days on, and three days off. Team members will work every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Job PurposeEntry‑level position that provides key support for the Quality Department. Responsibilities include water testing, raw milk testing, raw and pasteurized load‑out testing, finished product testing, microbiological testing, chemical titrations, and work‑in‑process testing. The employee generates daily reports, performs data entry, assists with project tasks, files paperwork, helps conduct special studies, calibrations, and communicates with other departments.
Responsibilities- Operate laboratory testing instrumentation correctly, including moisture/solids, protein, fat, and pH testing; manage microbiological plating, Foss analytical equipment, pH meter, and other instrumentation as needed.
- Operate all instrumentation in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner.
- Obtain and maintain NYS milk receiver, Appendix N, and/or Phosphatase license if required.
- Ensure raw milk meets specifications and all food safety and quality requirements.
- Perform testing and documentation of bulk product loadouts.
- Conduct daily quality line audits, evaluations, and testing on the plant floor as assigned.
- Perform sensory evaluations on finished products if required.
- Complete laboratory data worksheets and logs accurately.
- Maintain confidentiality of results and reports per the Company Letter of Confidentiality.
- Keep work area clean, orderly, and stocked with sufficient supplies.
- Use Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Communicate results promptly and professionally.
- Prepare all solutions and media required for laboratory tests.
- Notify Quality Assurance Manager and supervisors of unusual results or product defects; perform necessary re‑checks.
- Report damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions to supervisor or manager immediately.
- Follow all safety, work, GMP, and GLP rules.
- Verify approved incoming raw milk producers; be PMO certified for raw milk sampling and antibiotic residue screening if required.
- Assist with state and federal screening inspections.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- College education is highly preferred but not required.
- Minimum of one year experience in a laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in English; competent with written and verbal communication.
Physical Requirements
- 40‑45 hours of sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb. (Assistance can be provided).
- Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments affecting product quality or food safety.
- Observe and comply with the color‑coded container policy in the Production Areas.
- Fulfill duties to meet Company, Customer, and/or Government food safety and quality standards.
- Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities relating to Food Safety and product quality.
- Record any problems relating to Food Safety or product processes.
- Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until deficiencies are corrected.
- Assume duties if absent; another employee with the same skill level will cover.
